About the Three’s Class
“Wherever they go and whatever happens to them on the way, in that enchanted place on the top of the forest, a little boy and his Bear will always be playing.” ~ A Milne, Winnie-the-Pooh
Students in the Three-Year-Old Class are encouraged to actively participate in logical-thinking, problem-solving, and independent reasoning skills. Utilizing The Comprehensive Preschool Curriculum (Kay Albrecht and Linda G. Miller), much of the three-year-old’s day encompasses the promotion of basic math skills (sorting, classifying, counting) as well as exposure to a print and literature-rich environment. Fine motor skills are enhanced through specific projects (cutting and creating with play dough) as well as through manipulating various toys designed for the purpose of strengthening small muscles.
The children actively take part in the class by helping their teacher perform many tasks (such as preparing snack) in order to enhance their feelings of independence and importance. Art, music, and science exploration are a big part of the day. Listening exercises are vital in order to promote patience and consideration of others. Each three-year-old student also attends weekly classes in Spanish, Music and Science.
Children in this class must be at least three-years-old by September 1.
